Ski madness review, accommodation and attractions in the Snowy Mountains

The best kept winter secret in Australia’s Snowy Mountains is the Mount Selwyn snowfields.  If you’re looking for some great family fun and ski madness then look no further than this delightful mountain hideaway.   Selwyn operates as a day resort and our family have really enjoyed its resources during the last twelve years.

My husband and I celebrated our 55th year by learning to ski at Kirkwood, Lake Tahoe, California.   This new experience fired us up to return to Australia and introduce the rest of our family to the excitement and exhilaration of ski madness.  Since then we have helped most of our eleven grand children and some of our younger relatives to really enjoy this fantastic winter playground.    A great plus about Mt Selwyn is that it is incredibly “family friendly”.

We love this family ski-field so much we invested in a holiday home, 35 minutes drive from the mountain.  Everyone can relax off the ski-fields beside a warm combustion fire-place accompanied by nutritious food and heaps of family fun.   Each year we celebrate a great family Christmas in July, complete with Father Christmas and all the trimmings.

This photograph is of our Adaminaby family home after a heavy dumping of snow.   Adaminaby is located approximately 30 minutes from Cooma on the Snowy Mountains highway.   This quiet town hosts a club, pub, bakery, Post Office and Supermarket.

Family and friends have enjoyed the four seasons in ‘Currie’s Alpine Cottage’.   They’ve loved the skiing,  trout fishing, mountain bike riding from the top of Mt. Kosciusko , exploring Yarrangobilly Caves and dipping in its delightful 27°C thermal pool.    Horse riding has been a favourite for some while feeding kangaroos and wallabies have entertained others.   Four wheel driving on the back tracks, searching for old mountain huts has also been fun.   Others have enjoyed boating on Lake Eucumbene.
